Phone Interview Tips

Telephone interviews are standard procedure for large companies. Jobs on the internet easier for candidates to find and apply for jobs. To filter hundreds or thousands of applicants for the advertised position, SDM protocol often includes a telephone interview for the screening of pre and post-interview.

If you are a candidate from outside the city, a standard telephone interview can replace face-to-face interviews. In this case, your phone interview preparation will be very similar to the standard job interview preparation. Here are tips for telephone interviews that will help you prepare and give you the best chance of success.

Before Call Phone
Schedule
In many cases, previously scheduled a telephone interview. Make sure you will not be distracted by friends, children or pets. Consider your time commitment and try you have enough time to prepare for a phone interview.

Create (or Answering) Phone Calls

• Dress Up. May seem unnecessary to wear a suit and tie for a telephone interview, but many experienced recruitment experts recommend that you dress. Imagine if you do a phone interview with boxer shorts vs. when you are wearing a suit and tie. You will be more confident, the conversation will be more professional when you're dressed appropriately.


Case Of Silence

Both you and your interviewer will make the record in a telephone interview. A silent pause after you answer the questions may occur. Your interviewer will write a note about your answer, or reading their next question. Do not be tempted to interrupt or speak out of turn. Do not worry. Stay calm and wait patiently for the interviewer to speak.

If Question Not Comfortable

Send a thank you note as soon as possible, on the same day is the best time. (Note: Can be accepted when you send a thank you note via email, but it will make more impression if you send by post)

Your telephone interview success depends heavily on the quality of your preparation. If you have done a phone interview perfect and still not progress to the next step, it's most likely because you do not fit with the job, not because you are a bad interview.
